Day 1: USA – ATHENS
Day 2: ATHENS Arrival at Athens Eleutherios Venizelos International Airport. Transfer to Hotel Philippos. Overnight with breakfast.
Day 3: ATHENS Half-day Sightseeing of Athens incl. Presidential Palace, Constitution Square,Olympic Stadium and visit of the Acropolis. Overnight with breakfast at Hotel Philippos.
Day 4: ATHENS- CRETE. Depart in the morning to visit the Tomb of Marathon by coach with guide. Drive along the coast to Cape Sounion, to visit Poseidon Temple. Lunch in Marathon or near Cape Sounion. Be at airport at 16.30pm for Flight A3# 811 at 17:30pm. Arrive 19:20. Transfer to Hotel Lato. Overnight with breakfast
Day 5: HERAKLION- KNOSSOS- ARCHANES-VATHYPETRO. Morning departure at 9:00am to visit the Archaeological Museum &Knossos Minoan Palace. Also visit Archanes and the small museum (one room). Lunch included in this picturesque village. Visit to the Minoan site of Vathypetro. Overnight in Hotel Lato
Day 6: HERAKLION- PHAESTOS- GORTYS 9.00am Excursion to Phaestos - Gortys . Drive to nearby Zaro Lake for hiking around the lake and continue for lunch to Matala. Overnight with breakfast in Hotel Lato. Guide and coach as above.
Day 7: CRETE-ATHENS-EPIDAURUS-CORINTH- NAYPLION Transfer to airport for flight Aegean Airlines A3 # 840 to Athens at 7.30am. Arrival 8.20 am. Meet tour bus and guide to continue drive to Nauplion. On the way, visit the Ancient Corinth and Epidaurus - sanctuary of Asclepios, God of Healing. Visit the best preserved Ancient Greek Theatre with excellent acoustics and a capacity of 14,000 spectators. Dinner and overnight in Nauplion at Hotel Amalia or siilar.
Day 8: NAUPLION- NEMEA-MYCEANAE Visit Palamides Fortress, Nemea and Mycenae: visit the Citadel with the Cyclopean Walls, Lions Gate, Shaft graves, Beehive Tombs Dinner and overnight in Nauplion at Hotel Amalia.
Day 9: NAUPLION-SPEMNITSA-DIMITSANA Drive to the traditional village of Stemnitsa, known for its silversmith school, old churches, typical architecture. Continue to Dimitsana, a historic traditional settlement with its famous library. Visit the new open-air Water Power Museum. Dinner & overnight at Hotel Dimitsana or Tripolis.
Day 10: STEMNITSA- OLYMPIA Visit Olympia, the ancient site of the Olympic games. Visit the Holy Grove with the Sanctuary of Zeus, Stadium, and treasuries, Hera Temple etc. In the
afternoon, visit the Museum of Olympia. Dinner and overnight in Olympia, at Hotel Europa or similar
Day 11: OLYMPIA- KALAVRITA-ARACHOVA Drive through the Panachaikon Mountain range to Kalavrita - a historic town : take a ride on the cog railway to Diakofto through very scenic landscape then by bus to Egeon - for ferry ride to the Greek mainland at St. Nicolas. Continue along the coastal road to Itea /Delphi, the site of the most famous oracle of the ancient times. Dinner in local tavern Karathanassis. Overnight with breakfast at hotel in Delphi or Arachova.
Day 12: ARACHOVA-DELPHI- ATHENS Visit of site (Sanctuary of Apollo) and museum. Drive back to Athens
Afternoon meeting in the hotel. Dinner in a nearby taverna Psarras or similar in the Old Town. Overnight in the hotel Philippos.
Day 13: ATHENS Morning departure for visit to the Agora and Stoa Attalos and the Benaki Museum by the subway, (METRO) from the Acropolis station. Meet in the hotel at 7:00pm for farewell dinner in local tavernas with Greek specialties & overnight with breakfast at Hotel Philippos.
Day 14: ATHENS-USA Early morning transfer to the airport for return flight to the US.
